How to tell my friend her make up is too heavy?

I have a friend who has problem skin. Its blotchy and she has a few scars. She wears a heavy surgical foundation called Dermablend and although she applies it evenly its too dark and too heavy. It looks ok indoors but looks like a mask outdoors. I dont know what to say, shes very self conscious about her appearance.How to tell my friend her make up is too heavy?

That's really sweet that you are trying to help a friend...Kudos for that! You could simply tell her straight out that she wears too much, or you could simply say ';Do you know how gorgeous you are? I really don't think you need to wear as much foundation as you do! You could try some normal foundation, or even some tinted moisturizer! You wanna try it?'; or something along those lines!


then you could get makeovers at Sephora or MAC and see if how she likes the lighter application!

You should totally just be honest because if someone had a booger they wouldn't want anyone to see it. This is basically the same thing and if you are really good friends she Just be honest and if she gets mad it's probably because you said it too harsh. You have to say it gently and in private with her like at your house when no one around.
You can either not tell her at all.


Or you could just tell her by saying (when she's not wearing makeup) Hey your face looks a lot prettier when you don't wear the makeup you should use a lighter solution (or shade) more often.

I tell my friend that her eye liner druls all the time.
Tell her she is so beautiful and she dosnt need all the makeup to prove it.


Tell her she can come over your house for a sleep over and you can do her make up and show her how pretty she can be without all the makeup on.

Don't tell her bluntly. Just say something like, ';Uhm ______, you may want to lay off the foundation a little';.


Say it sincerely. Dont smile. Be serious.
Tell her the heavy matte makeup takes away from her natural beauty.
Just tell her. She'll appreciate your honesty. She would rather be told right away than to walk around looking bad any longer.
Recommend something else, reassure her that she is pretty.
Why don't the two of you go out one Saturday and get make-overs together?
Splash a bucket of water on her face, that'll send a message.
