I'm not sure of the U.S. count, but the last time I looked, the U.S. was something like third-largest in numbers. Just under a million, standing.





China? their *peace-time* force level is more than the U.S. had at the peak of World War II. (8 million)

As to quality, I'd have to give the Germans the nod, after having both umpired and participated in several Reforger Exercises. (The Krauts haven't lost a damned thing since the days of Rommel)





Their size is a discount, though. However, what they have is top-notch. (since they still have a mandatory service draft, they can ramp up, and quickly.)





China's quality? Well, look at the (civilian) products they sell the US.





Will it always be that way? No, already they are showing improvement. Yes, they are currently reverse-engineering everything they buy (from us, from the Russians, from whoever). Upgrading their military, both air and naval as well as ground forces, is a big priority for them.





They don't currently have a solid blue-water Navy, but they are working on it. Same thing for their air forces.





The best estimates I have seen place them on at least a qualitative parity with the US somewhere between 2015 and 2020, all things being equal.





Things are never equal -- What's Japan doing? Thailand? Vietnam? Russia? (Ivan and Chou are friends in name only).





Still, 8 million of anything -- with automatic weapons or bolt-actions, on foot or mechanized, is still 8 million. Plus, because they could easily mobilize four times that many --

Not sure, but I wouldn't worry about comparing numbers with the likes of the Chinese. The differences in tactics, training, and equipment make the two forces incomparable. N. Korean has one of the larges forces on the planet and they would be nearly worthless in combat right now.

Who cares! The Chinese are not going to go after the best customer they have. The Banks there buy our treasury notes to invest the savings of their working class as we are more stable.


Like the US they operate at a deficit. Things like subsidizing the cost of energy takes a chunk out of the budget.

Money from the US sent by Chinese here is just as important to them as it is to Mexico, VietNam and other countries.

Since she's young and just starting she should go easy on the makeup, wear things that will bring out her natural beaty and youth instead of detracting from her face. Here are a few tips...





Eyes:


When I first started wearing make-up I used a clear mascara. It makes your lashes look longer and standout but doesn't make them too dark or drastic. Later on you can start adding regular black mascara but only one or two coats, keep it simple. DON'T wear eyeliner yet...its still too dark at this point. Wear simpler, more natural makeup for about a year before you try eyeliner, it's a big step! For eyeshadow, stick with soft natural colors (light pink, browns, beiges), anything too bright or dramatic will make you look fake and inexperienced in applying makeup.





Lips:


Don't wear lipstick, use a lip gloss.





Face:


Don't apply foundation to your whole face, you don't need it yet! You may try using a bit of concealer over any acne or uneaveness, or under the eyes for dark circles. But seriously, you probably don't need it at all yet. Use sparingly!





Cheeks:


I wouldn't suggest using blush at first, but ease yourself into it. Use a color that compliments your natural skin tones, for tanner skin use a bronzer, for paler skin, a light pink shade. Don't overdo it, just apply to the apples of your cheeks.

None. No 11 year old NEEDS makeup. I started allowing my child to wear make up in stages when she was 13. At 13 she could wear lip gloss; she could wear mascara for special occasions. At 14 I allowed light eyeshadow. She was 15 or 16 before she started with the full makeup. Now she is not dependent on makeup. She wears it if she wants to and she if doesn't feel like wearing it, she's not ashamed to be seen without it. She's a beautiful girl and her skin is gorgeous because she doesn't clog her pores with tons of makeup. An 11 year old should be a kid. Just teach her how to take care of her skin. Develop a skincare routine. She'll probably look better without makeup.

I think that when you're 11, you don't need much, if any at all. If she has acne / pimples, get some ProActiv. If she has blemishes / under eye circles, get concealer. If she has an uneven skin tone, get a tinted moisturizer. Other than that, the only thing that should be even considered for that age is lip gloss.
An 11 year old doesn't need to wear make up! Thats crazy! If anything at all, clear lip gloss.. but thats it!

I think you should go into a beauty shop or a beauty salon and ask there opinions because usually different shades or eyeshadow, blusher and lip gloss are better for different skin tones and don't forget to ask the ways to apply it.

I use just a little bit of ';Laguna Peach'; (one of the Beauty Rush eye shadows from Victoria's Secret) just on the top of my eyelids and then a nice brown eyeliner on the outer corners of my eyes on the bottom, I never go all the way across, it looks sloppy most of the time, I might go three-quarters of the way across at the most... this is a great every day look because it deepens the color of my eye and looks good bu not over done.





every eye color looks good with a different color, I think the basic rule is


blue goes with peachy/orangey colors


green goes with purples and pinks


and brown goes with violet/purplish colors

I wouldn't use eyeliner for school. Save it for going out. I personally feel that eyeliner should be reserved for more special occasions. If you have large eyes, you don't really need eyeliner since the purpose of eyeliner is to make your eyes larger.





Why don't you try this: Layer your eyeshadow. Use a very light shimmer from your eyelid to your brow, do a medium shade in the crease, a darker shade on the eyelid and do a very very dark shade right along the lashes. This will give a subtler eyeliner effect so that you can save the eyeliner for more special occasions.
Switch it up as much as you like. In High School I wore coloured eyeliners to keep my make up fresh. Purple was my favourite. (Added bonus - Purple eye liner in the morning makes you look more awake!)





Also try experimenting with a liquid eyeliner some days. A solid dark liquid line on the top with a subtle taupe-y shadow and mascara is a really classy look. Also with a liquid, I've been experimenting with a really cool 'Mod'-eye. Try making tiny barely connected dots with a liquid eyeliner where you would usually draw a straight line. This recreates the drawn on Twiggy lashes in a really subtle and fun way. Add a bright shadow for an edgier and exciting look!





You could also try using your shadows as liners. Use a really find eyeliner brush and make it a bit damp, coat it in shadow, dab off the extra, and go to town. This gives you a lot more options as most people have more shadows than liners.





Don't just stick to top, bottom, or both. There are a million things you can do with liner. Also, sticking to the same makeup everyday can be so boring. Switch it up.... one day wear only mascara and lipstick, or make some dramatic Amy Winehouse eyes, or no liner at all, just shadow and mascara. Play! Make-up should be fun!





Just don't go overboard. Too much make up in high school always looks a little bit 'clowny'. If you have troubled skin, too much make up can make it worse. If you don't, too much make-up can make it look like do.
i am 14. try putting eyeliner just on the bottom. go on to the website of your favourite makeup company(s) (covergirl, maybelline) and see if they have a ';makeup advisor'; and find your best products. for eyeshadow, apply dark colours at the bottom and lighter colours closer to the brow. for lips, try a really light shade of lipstick and then apply a bit of pink lip gloss on top. no lip liner. mascara is really good, obviously. hope that helps. :)

Bottom eyeliner usually makes your eyes look small.


Try other colors like a deep purple, they compliment brown eyes.


Instead of lower eyeliner, just blend snowy white shadow at the bottom, and do a thick liner on top. Makes perfect rocker-eyes.



i am not a fan of top and bottom eyeliner. i like just top REALLY thin and sometimes bottom but not across the whole bottom just starting in the middle and going out making it darker as i go out. but some eyeshadow would look pretty! o

This would consist of around 150 people or so (give or take). So if someone refers to a troop, you have to look at what context they are using to know what they are refering to.

Math, Science, and computer training are the big 3 if you want to do well in college....any degree field.
All of those careers you have listed require college, so take college prep classes. Focus on math, science, English, and foreign language and possibly art.
Mirco -will also help in you in culinary skills - bread yeasts and other products used are forms of micro-bacteria as well and understanding the hygiene side of the business - math and witing - journalism - as it will help develop a different sort of wrign skills and helps with understanding research - which you will need in any college or university - speech as well - its a key communication skill in any job - CPR - good life skill - medical terminology is good if you want to do volunteer work in a health care setting -which may help you decide on what you may or may not want to persue as a career in the future
Holy crap. Tell them to chill out. Unless you have an inclination to go into engineering, or med school what you choose when you are in 9th grade will not have any impact on your future career. Your life your decisions. You have enough stress tell them to stop heaping on more! High School is when you are trying to figure out what you want. Take a class in everything. You don;t need to decide anything until Junior year and again only if your planning on going into something very specialized. It wil come to you. Biology is a good place to start for any medical profession(even Vet). GL!
Don't panic - just because other people want to put you in a box, don't let them.





The only job on your list that might require a decision earlier on would be veterinarian. Everything else comes later. Take the basic math and science courses, especially science. See how you like them - several of your choices are science related. If you like the study and do well, see about Advanced Placement - because you will be looking at schools that focus in those areas. Competition to be a vet is tougher than to be a medical doctor.





English, speech and writing courses are important no matter what you go into - if you cannot express yourself well in writing and in person, you put yourself at a severe disadvantage. Stay away from Nursing courses at this level - they are pretty much useless. Ditto Medical Terminology - not much there in the way of content. Culinary skills? Seems a wasted course if you're looking at higher education.





Courses you take now can influence colleges you can apply to. But more important is to do well in all your courses - even if you take one and find you really don't like it, continue to work hard and do well. You may never have to take another one again - but this one will be on your record.





No one should expect you to plan your whole career in 9th grade. Be open to surprises. I didn't pick my career until I was in my 30's - but I had a wonderful time getting to that point.
May be you can talk to your career advicer in the school? Since most of your interests are related to healthcare, you can emphasis on science areas, and some business courses.
